St Mary Catholic School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida

Initially we had high hopes for this school as it appears to have an excellent star rating. The first year was very good, but unfortunately since the appointment of the new principal things seem to have deteriorated and we have seen a decline in teacher/parent communication. There is an element of bullying within the middle school which St Mary's have been unable to completely address. Disciplinary action has not always been dispensed with in a fair and balanced manner. Some teachers are slow to inform parents if a child is struggling in a subject making it difficult to catch up on grades so late in the year. The present principal needs to take control and oversee his teaching staff, some of whom tend to favor their 'A' students. If your child is struggling and has an IEP, this school is probably not for you.
